Dr. Hopson received the B.A. in Mass Communications from Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University), the M.S.in Journalism from Murray (KY) State University, and the Ph.D., in Journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists and the NAACP. She has won several awards including Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Haywood County NAACP Proflic Educator and Author Award, University of Tennessee Award for Outstanding Civil Rights Contributions to West Tennessee, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Woman of Vision, Black College Fund Award of Excellence, Thurston Group of Washington State Excellence Award, and was named a Wiley College Woman of Excellence.
In 2002, Dr. Hopson founded Touched By Grace Professional Communications Ministry to inspire and empower individuals and audiences so they may live faithfully and triumphantly. She joyfully says she asked God to equip her with many gifts so she could be a blessing to others. “My life and this ministry are an extension of these core values: honesty, integrity, self-care and awareness, enthusiasm, positive thinking, prayer and faithfulness to God.”
